Education

While five school districts serve public school students in Morris County, two districts (417 and 481) have full time school facilities in the county.  USD 417, with K - 12 facilities in Council Grove and K - 8 facilities in Dwight and Alta Vista, serves the eastern half of Morris County, southwestern portion of Wabaunsee County and western portion of Lyon County.  With K - 12 facilities at White City, USD 481 serves Morris County students along the northern one-third of the county as well as students residing in the southern portion of Geary County.  Education for the county's students is enhanced via the Butler Community College satellite facility in Council Grove with outreach classes at White City.  Four-year college educations are available to all within 35 miles or less at Kansas State University and Emporia State University.  Vocational-Technical schools are also available within 35 miles at the Flint Hills Technical College at Emporia and the Manhattan Area Technical College at Manhattan.
